THE MISSION OF SOARTRIANGLE IS TO CLOSE THE PROVEN FUNDING GAP FACING FEMALE ENTREPRENEURS
SoarTriangle launched in 2014 as a part of Google's #40Forward initiative. This initiative provided a total of $1 million to partner with organizations who planned and executed programs to increase the representation of women in their start-up communities.
Securing funding is challenging for all founders, but more acute for women. The data show that women receive less than 5% of venture funds. SoarTriangle attempts to address this funding gap with concrete actions that will support promising female entrepreneurs.
We accomplish our mission through
two initiatives
Deep Mentoring Program
The Deep Mentoring program lasts for one year (from April through March) and is targeted toward female-led ventures that are seeking funding within the next 12 months. Soar selects the most promising female-led ventures through an application and interview process, and then those companies are taken through two phases of deep mentoring. The mentoring is completely customized to the needs of each company and is executed by a combination of Core Team Members and Advisors with the goal for as many companies as possible to achieve a funding event within 18 months of starting the program.
Community Education with Outreach and Research
SoarTriangle's Community Education works to ensure that the business and investment communities are aware of this proven funding gap and the ways in which they can help narrow it. The Outreach side of this education initiative involves a number of events throughout the year. In addition to Outreach, SoarTriangle is conducting first party research examining female funding success stories. In 2015, SoarTriangle will publish findings and learnings from interviews with both female-led ventures that have received funding and their investors. We hope that this information and insight will benefit both the Triangle area and the broader entrepreneurial and investment community.
